I read today that there's an analyst who did some calculations that this recession should last 14 months. Assuming that we've been in recession since July '08, that would mean we would start recovering late in '09, perhaps September or October of 2009.

Of course, I may live in a part of the country that doesn't get affected as negatively. So far things haven't been all that bad, although I wouldn't want to say that at Sun Microsystems, Yahoo! or Mervyn's right now. Yes, there are specific targets that get hit in a recession, any downturn, and even sometimes in some upturns but I'm okay so far. And maybe we'll get hit harder later than others or recover more slowly. That's the way economics and business is ... it's a both/and ... local, national, and global.
